Cookie policy

What cookies do
Cookies are small files your browser stores. Our own cookies keep accounts and forms secure. They also remember your choices. With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand visits to public pages. We do not enable advertising features. We host our fonts and graphics ourselves.
First-party cookies
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
similarbeliefs_php |
Necessary session, sign-in, CSRF form protection and temporary messages | Browser session; browser restore settings may preserve it |
sb_php_trusted |
Remembers a trusted device when you explicitly select that option after two-factor verification | Up to 30 days, subject to revocation |
sb_cookie_choice |
Remembers your acceptance or rejection of optional cookies and the choice version | 180 days, unless cleared earlier |
You cannot turn off necessary cookies in our cookie settings. You can block them in your browser. If you do, sign-in and forms may stop working. When a cookie expires, this does not delete related records from our server.
Optional Google reCAPTCHA
Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA have separate choices in Cookie settings. Both start off. Accept optional allows both; Reject optional refuses both. You can use Settings to allow just one.
We may use Google reCAPTCHA to check forms for spam. It loads only when it is enabled, you accept optional cookies, and you submit a protected form. Google receives details about your browser, device and actions. It uses these to check for spam. Google says its _GRECAPTCHA cookie supports this check.
Google controls its own cookies and how long they last. This may also depend on your browser and Google settings. Read Google's cookie information, privacy policy and terms.
If you reject optional cookies, our own security checks stay on. We do not load Google reCAPTCHA before you accept. Google sign-in is separate. Choosing it takes you to Google, where its own settings apply.
Optional Google Analytics
If you allow analytics, the site loads Google Analytics with measurement ID G-GYT3FPENJJ. It helps us understand which public pages people visit. Google receives technical data such as browser and device details, page activity and the IP address used to connect. This is not anonymous browsing.
The _ga and _ga_GYT3FPENJJ cookies distinguish browsers and keep session information. This site sets their lifetime to up to 180 days without renewing it on each page view. Your consent choice also lasts 180 days. Clearing cookies removes them sooner.
Analytics is not loaded on sign-in, registration, account, submission, contact or admin pages. The page-view URL excludes query strings and fragments. We do not send passwords, email addresses or verification tokens as analytics fields. Advertising consent remains off, and Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled by this site's tag.
When you withdraw analytics consent, we stop collection, clear these first-party analytics cookies and reload if the tag was loaded. Withdrawal does not erase data already sent. Contact us about data rights and see Google's privacy policy.
Optional Ahrefs Analytics
The analytics choice also allows Ahrefs Web Analytics on public pages. Ahrefs says its standard analytics service does not use cookies or persistent identifiers. We still wait for your permission before loading it. It helps us see overall traffic patterns. Read how Ahrefs Analytics works and its privacy policy.
Ahrefs is not loaded on account, sign-in, submission, contact or admin pages. We also skip it on URLs with query strings or fragments. Withdrawing analytics consent reloads the page without either analytics service. This does not erase earlier data.
Changing your choice
Select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. You can accept or reject optional cookies there. They start off. We ask again when your choice expires, is cleared or needs to cover a changed policy.
You can withdraw consent at any time. This stops reCAPTCHA from loading again. If it has already loaded, we reload the page to stop it. We cannot remove Google's own cookies. Clear those in your browser settings. Clearing cookies may also sign you out.
If JavaScript is off, we do not load analytics or reCAPTCHA. Our server security checks still run. For help, contact Williation Technologies Ltd or read our privacy notice.
